This is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp mornings, mild afternoons and cool evenings. I start to think about getting my nest ready for the cold days and nights to come. It’s all about coziness and comfort. The best way to achieve that is through layering textures to create a stimulating and warm environment.
Lighting becomes more important as the days get dimmer. Illuminate those dark corners with an extra lamp or two to make those spaces more warm and inviting.
Pillows not only look pretty, but are great for piling on your your sofa or placing on your favorite chair to amp up the comfort level. Pick out several in your favorite color and mix different textures such as metallic and nubby for visual interest.
Seasonal flowers or greenery keep those of us in cold winter climates connected to nature while couped up for months.
Warm cozy throws are a must to toss over your feet or pull up to your neck while napping or watching your favorite movie.
Magazines and books always add texture to a room. Stack those books or magazines that you swore you’d read over the summer but tossed aside to go out and play instead. They’ll make for a fun diversion during those snowy days.
How do you prepare your nest for fall?
